Current Priorities

Issue

Tackling Anti Social behaviour and feelings of safety

Action

We are increasing the amount of Foot patrols in the area and aiming to be in the right locations at the right time to tackle anti social behaviour and provide a visible deterrent to crime. We are also hoping to increase the attendance at our beat surgeries from the local community by advertising on various platforms / through local prominent groups so that we can listen to problems and hope to find solutions through partnership working.
Update 24/1/25- We have set up a dedicated Proactive Management Plan specifically for ASB at the NEC and Resorts World area. This will help us to collate vital information as to who is responsible and to then take action against those individuals. The team continue to provide high visibility patrols and support a number of key events taking place.
Update 07/03/25- We continue to patrol the area and are working closely with communities to identify any instances of anti social behaviour. Internally we have built a network to help identify key individuals where we will then look to take positive action through community protection warnings and notices if required.

Issue

Taking robust action to tackle vehicle crime

Action

We will be working with CID at our beat surgeries to provide the public with a complex crime perspective to answer any questions the community may have. We will also be offering crime prevention / target hardening advice. We are seeking support from the community to build intelligence around vehicle crime offenders so that we can target the garages that are stripping the targeted vehicle.
Update- 24/1/25- The team conduct regular high visibility patrols around known offence locations, and have amended their duties to cover times where offences occur more often.
Update 07/03/24- Year to date it is pleasing to see that the area surrounding the NEC has seen a 10.5% reduction in vehicles crimes compared to the previous year. We continue to work with our business community to reduce offences. We are seeking to increase our patrols at key times and cross border work with neighbouring forces.

Issue

Hot spot for business crime and theft related offences

Action

The local team are prioritising our response to business crime and have recently made efficiencies in how we can communicate clearly with CCTV requests. Officers will work with vulnerable locations, and are provided investigation packs to improve crime reporting accuracy and evidence submissions.
Update 24/1/25- The team have conducted a number of high visibility patrols in the local area and plan are being put into place to advertise dates where your local neighbourhood team will be on site actively visiting businesses to listen to your needs.
Update 07/03/25- We have seen reduction in the numbers of crimes recorded around your area year to date which is pleasing to see. I would encourage that members of the public report incidents to us as soon as possible to ensure we are capturing the issues and listening to concerns in the community. The team will patrol key events and locations and will look to engage with members of the business community to hear your thoughts and concerns.
