Issue

Retail crime, including shoplifting as requested by local retail and partners through the regular BID partnership meetings.

Action

St Michael's Neighbourhood team are committed to patrolling local areas to prevent shoplifting and ensure the safety of businesses. By maintaining a visible presence, we work to deter theft and apprehend shoplifters when necessary. We actively collaborate with local shops, requesting their cooperation in gathering as much intel and evidence as possible to support investigations. Sharing details such as CCTV footage, witness statements, and suspicious activity reports helps us take swift action and hold offenders accountable. Together, we can create a safer environment for both businesses and the community.

St Michael neighbourhood team have continued this focus where identifying those people causing our communities harm following arrest and charge have successfully issued Community Behaviour Order against them in not entering Coventry City Centre.
The St Michael's Team will continue to target these individuals and use all available tools to prevent them causing further harm.

Issue

Coventry City Town Centre has seen a number of incidents of Anti Social Behaviour over the quarter

Action

St Michael's Neighbourhood Teams have been completing regular targeted Anti Social Behaviour Patrols within Coventry City Centre, during these patrols we have partnership worked with Coventry Local Authority in these patrols enforcing Public Space Protection Order, Community Protection Warning and Community Protection Notice.

During these patrols officers will be engaging with members of the public / businesses to provide reassurance as well as enforcement on persons engaging in this type of behaviour.

Issue

Tackling Robberies and Serious Youth Violence within Coventry City Centre.

Action

The St Michael's NPT have continued with visible patrols in hotspot areas where serious youth violence is likely to occur.
The team have have completed various Op Servator deployments in order to disrupt and deter this type of behaviour in problematic areas.

St Michael's have completed enforcement with officers including completing arrests, stop and search, but also making referrals and other methods that will prevent and deter youths from committing acts of serious violence.

Issue

It has been raised that in Hillfields, area of Vernon Court having sex workers / drugs users targeting the elderly community.

Action

St Michael's officers have completed patrols and engagement with elderly residents for reassurance. In these engagements various cuppa with coppa sessions have received positive feedback with residents and also Citizen Housing. St Michael's have partnership worked with Citizen Housing where various CCTV systems have now been deployed in order to identify and disrupt regular persons attending this area. St Michael's have completed robust deployment of Community Protection Warning / Notices and Arrests of persons causing our elderly community harm. Further partnership work has been completed with Kairos / Outreach in ensuring engagement is completed with sex workers in this area around how their behaviour affects the community.

Issue

Coventry city centre saw several victims of robbery in the last week. This was during the schools half term break.

Action

A mixture of high visibility patrols & plain clothes patrols have resulted in two offenders being arrested who have been linked to x 3 offences. They are currently on bail with conditions not to enter the city centre
