Issue
Local Stores and community members have informed police that there has been an increase in anti social behaviour around the Cotteridge shops area. The anti social behaviour includes people walking around or sitting with open alcoholic drinks, begging and also people appearing under the influence of drugs.
Action
The Bournville neighbourhood team have been carrying out patrols of the known locations and engaging with those believed to be responsible for the actions.
Partnership work has taken place with Birmingham City Council enforcement officers and sharing of information has taken place around those responsible.
PCSO's have been walking around the areas such as rear of Cotteridge shops and engaging with those seen to be loitering. This area has been highlighted to BCC through the 'fix my street' app due to clear drug paraphernalia being located. Requests have been made of partners to clean up the location. This is an ongoing task whilst the ownership of the land is ascertained.
3 people have now been issued with civil protection warnings by police. Support is being offered but refused by those involved. These people are not homeless - please do not assume they are.
Issue
The community and councillors have mentioned there is anti social behaviour around the Masefield Estate. Policing stats show similar as well.
Action
Patrols have taken place over the last month in the Masefield Estate area. These have been uniformed patrols in marked police vehicles. We are considering the use of plain clothed patrols going forwards as well.
Discussions have been had with partner agencies and joint visits have taken place with Birmingham City Council housing officers. The occupants of 2 addresses are having extra work through partners due to the problems they have created.
We need the community to keep telling us where the issues are. Please utilise Crimestoppers to remain anonymous on 0800 555 111
We have since seen a drop off in calls to police around the issues mentioned. We will continue to patrol and monitor the issues. A further couple have been mentioned in recent meetings who will now be subject to civil protection warnings.
