Issue
Stechford Retail Park reducing crime and aggressive begging
Action
•2 dedicated PC’s and a PCSO who are investigating a number of live reports and bringing offenders to justice.
•A number of arrests and offenders identified throughout January and February. Any offenders that cannot be located (no fixed address etc.) circulated as WANTED on Police National Computer.
•Where offenders are local Birmingham City Council tenants, officers are sharing information with the council who may take action in respect of their tenancy.
•Business Watch now set up with local retailers, sharing CCTV images, the latest intel and hints and tips to maximise the chance of prosecution.
•Retailers have been provided with ‘Retail Radios’ so offenders’ descriptions can be shared at speed.
Issue
Working with West Midlands Police colleagues and partners to make some of our busiest roads safer.
Action
Officers are increasing the number of pro laser speeding operations completed and listening to feedback from the community as to where they should be carried out.
We are actively promoting Community Speedwatch at community meetings, on WM Now and X.
Officers have started working with colleagues in West Midlands Police Traffic Department, carrying out joint patrols and are looking to further utilise the Road Harm Prevention Team - watch this space!
A Stechford NPT officer recently arrested a male from a moving off road motorbike. Certainly do not try this at home! Fortunately the officer did not incur any lasting injuries and is now back at work after a few days recuperating.
Issue
Reduce vehicle crime.
Action
Stechford NPT are trying to have an impact in this area in addition to our other commitments. During periods of cold weather officers have completed frosty morning patrols, trying to prevent theft of motor vehicles left to defrost. We have also used communication channels such as X and WM Now to promote a 'Stay with your car as it defrosts' message.
In addition to designated patrols under Operation Guardian, officers are now completing regular foot patrols in small 'micro beats' that will vary depending on the current threat. Officers are currently concentrating on Glebe Farm Road (and roads off) and Moat Lane / Yew Tree Lane (and roads off).
Regular patrols are completed in know vehicle deposition sites. When stolen vehicles are recovered any viable forensics leads are followed.
Recent arrests of note include 1) whilst on patrols with Traffic Officer, arresting a male who rammed a police car whilst in a stolen vehicle, 2) a routine vehicle stop where the driver was wanted for burglary and 3) executing search warrant where 2 males were arrested and 3 stolen motorbikes were recovered.
