Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

The neighbourhood team have received increased reports of anti-social behaviour and drug usage in locations around the Beaconsfield area including: Holtspur way and Warwick Court. Currently, the team are responding to increased reports of youths smoking cannabis in the garage blocks in the evenings.

Action

To detect and deter this behaviour, officers will be patrolling these areas during times the behaviour is identified to be most likely to take place. These patrols are recorded on the “hotspot” app to help keep track of policing activities and ensure all areas have been covered.

There will also continue to build their intelligence around local drug usage to identify offenders and suspected drug dealing.

If you have any information please report on 101 or online at www. thamesvalley.police.uk.
Call 999 if crime in progress or you are at risk of harm.

Issue

Burglaries continues to be an area of concern for local residents, as highlighted by the routine surveys we send out to members of the public. There has recently been an increase in reports in the Beaconsfield areas.

Action

The team have currently been focusing on high visibility proactive patrols in locations where there have been increased reports of burglary. They have also been making sure to frequently engage with the local community in order to distribute burglary prevention advice to as many residents as possible. In light of any recent burglary, the team will carry out a process called cocooning, where they will seek to engage with homes in the proximity of the area the burglary took place, either via door knocks or leaflet drops. The neighbourhood PCSOs also continue to conduct their Have your say events, which gives members of the public the chance to pick up crime prevention material and speak with their local neighbourhood team about any concerns they may have.

If you have any information please report on 101 or online at www. thamesvalley.police.uk.

Issue

The neighbourhood team have recently been looking into theft from motor vehicles in the area, after receiving increased reports of the offence. It has been seen this is particularly an issue at the Beaconsfield service station in the large carpark, as well as other anti-social behaviour and offences that the team will work to reduce simultaneously.

Action

The neighbourhood team will be conducting clear car campaigns, which involves visiting carparks and checking whether there are valuables on display in unattended vehicles and distributing crime prevention advice to owners accordingly. Collobartive working also continues to take place with local partners such as managers, staff and the local council to work on finding new solutions to prevent the offence.

While crime prevention efforts do take place, intelligence will continue to be gathered to identify offenders.

Some crime prevention advice to remember in regards to this offence:
- Always double check and ensure you have locked all your car doors, rather than relying on the locking sound alone, please check the handle to make sure it is locked.
- Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles but if you must, please ensure they are well hidden.
