Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

ASB Langley memorial park/Harrow Market - the public have told us that they do not feel safe in the park. There have been a number of violent incidents over the years and ASB reports in the park. There is also complains of drug use.

Action

The police have done a number of plain clothes operations in the park targeting drug use. In February we stop searched 10 persons who were seen using drugs by plain clothes officers. We are working with Langley college to educate the students who use the park at lunch time. We have sent out a joint letter from the police, drug support services and the council to the students.
We have installed a temporary CCTV camera in the park. This went in February and will be there for 3 months initially.
We invited colleagues from the roads policing off road bike team to Langley and focused on the memorial park.
We continue to patrol the park on foot regularly.

Issue

ASB Willow Court- Police have received a number of reports of youths attending the area and causing Anti-social Behaviour. There has also been mention of possible drug use/drug dealing occurring in the communal area and car park.

Action

Although reports of ASB at willow court have decreased they do still continue. The police patrol this location regularly. We have recently identified two further male who are persistently causing issues in the block and community protection warning notices will be issued. These notices will warn them of their behaviour and tell them not to attend the location again. Further action can be taken if they do not abide by this.

Issue

Graffiti - graffiti with the word MOP has appeared all over Langley

Action

The police are aware of the 'MOP' graffiti all over Langley and have investigated but at this time we have no suspects.
We have put out a media appeal for CCTV/witnesses/information but have had no leads back.
We have reported dozens of these to the council who have been removing them when they are on council property.
The police will work with local residents to map the graffiti so that we can continue to arrange for it to be clean up.
We have spoken to a number of youth groups in the area and Langley college.
