Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

Burglary has been highlighted as a top priority for the residents of the Missendens. The neighbourhood team are focusing their efforts on ensuring the offence continues to be reduced

Action

The team have currently been focusing on high visibility proactive patrols in locations where there have been increased reports of burglary. They have also been making sure to frequently engage with the local community in order to distribute burglary prevention advice to as many residents as possible. In light of any recent burglary, the team will carry out a process called cocooning, where they will seek to engage with homes in the proximity of the area the burglary took place, either via door knocks or leaflet drops. The neighbourhood PCSOs also continue to conduct their Have your say events, which gives members of the public the chance to pick up crime prevention material and speak with their local neighbourhood team about any concerns they may have.

If you have any information please report on 101 or online at www. thamesvalley.police.uk.
Call 999 if crime in progress or you are at risk of harm.

Issue

Anti-social behaviour has consistently been highlighted as an area of concern by the residents of the Missendens, the neighbourhood team continue to focus on proactively preventing this. This includes drug usage, street drinking, loitering in public areas to be loud and disruptive to nearby residents and other behaviour that can cause distress to the members of the community. Recently, the team have been addressing the issue of E-Scooters being rode illegally.

Action

High visibility patrols continue to take place in the most targeted areas around Missenden, individuals suspected to be causing issues will be stopped and engaged with if seen with the aim to deter them.

The team also seek to enforce the legislation available to them to assist in robustly policing anti-social behaviour, this includes civil orders and public space protection orders (PSPOs) put in place by the local council specifically to target and prohibit anti-social behaviour in a certain area. There are currently a number of PSPOs in place across Chesham in locations such as public cark parks, town centres and shopping areas.

The team have also been seeking to educate individuals surrounding E-Scooter usage, however they have also been carrying out enforcement which can include the E-Scooter being seized, a fine and points on license.

If you have any information please report on 101 or online at www. thamesvalley.police.uk.

Issue

Residents of the Missenden have voiced concerns about speeding around the area, due to the danger it presents to pedestrians and other road users.

Action

The neighbourhood team will seek to carry out periodic speed enforcement, in which they will be roadside with speed guns. This will not only work to deter speeding, but also offer enforcement in terms of tickets for vehicles found to be exceeding the speed limit.

They will also seek to pursue regular offenders and be considering all disposal options available such as a section 59, where vehicles can be seized from individuals seen to be driving in an anti-social manner.
