Operated by: Thames Valley Police
https://www.thamesvalley.police.ukEvery neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.
Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.
Neighbourhood Policing teams…- Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
- May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
- Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
- Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
- Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
- Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
- Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
- Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
- Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.
From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.
We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.
Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.
Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.
Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities
Issue
Drugs
Action
On the 5th March the Neighbourhood Team attended a Community Forum where it was agreed that drugs would remain a priority for the area.
Updates were provided to forum members around recent positive outcomes relating to drug possession and ongoing supply investigations. This data is being sent to recipients of TV Alerts. These outcomes are borne out of a range of proactive stop checks, calls for service and intelligence based. Updates were given around 2 ongoing investigations involving males suspected to be involved in drug supply.
Locations of note remain on the Neighbourhood Team patrol plan.
Update as of 3/4/25 - One further suspect from the area arrested on suspicion of drug supply. Officer seized Class A drugs and the male remains under investigation.
Issue
Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
Action
Members of the Community Forum held on the 5th March requested that ASB be a priority for the area. This includes the use of E-Scooters and updates were provided around how many E-Scooters / E-Bikes have been seized in Oxfordshire in Dec, January and February since the previous forum.
The Banbury Neighbourhood Team aim to hold one focused operation around this topic each month and residents have highlighted Bridge Street as an area of concern.
Discussion was held around the rough sleepers in Banbury Town Centre. This area remains a priority under Op Jin which is a multi-agency approach focused on the ASB caused by this group. A PSPO for the area is being sought and we are hopeful will be in place for the spring. The neighbourhood team continue to work with Community Safety wardens and are utilising legislation such as Community Protection Warnings and Notices where appropriate. One of our most prolific offenders linked to such activity has recently been issued with a Restraining Order due to his targeted anti social behaviour against a Town Centre business.
Further update as of 3/4/25:
The PSPO as now been agreed and will be in force from Monday 7th April.
Further arrests of prolific offender who was issued a restraining order has meant he has been recalled to prison.
A multi-agency partnership working group is dealing with ongoing issues around ASB / drug use linked to vulnerable female in the Town Centre.
Issue
Speeding / Traffic Offences
Action
Speeding / traffic related offences will remain a priority for the area, as agreed at a Community Forum on the 5th March 2025.
The Neighbourhood Team have provided updates of 3 targeted operations where we have worked alongside our colleagues from Roads Policing to focus on traffic offences. This is supported by the DVLA and updates of results was provided to members of the forum. This information also shared via TV Alerts.
The team are planning further similar operations in upcoming months.
