Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.

Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.

Neighbourhood Policing teams…
  • Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
  • May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
  • Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
  • Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
  • Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
  • Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
Neighbourhood Policing…
  • Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
  • Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
  • Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.

Have Your Say logo From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.

We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.

Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.

Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.

Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities

Issue

ASB/E-Scooters, youths with masks riding e-scooters on
Longmead and Dedworth Road

Action

The Windsor West Neighbourhood team have actioned multiple closure orders at addresses to deter anti-social behaviour, including drug use, threatening behaviour and criminal activity at those addresses. These orders have been granted by the Magistrates Court to prevent offenders from using these addresses to commit crime and cause alarm within the community. We are focusing on community hotspots and using intelligence-led policing with an aim to reduce crime and improve the neighbourhood. We are collaborating with partner agencies to improve Osgood Park, and to deter criminal activity and increase public safety in the park itself by targeting patrols and dealing with offenders. We are targeting repeat offenders who ride their e-scooters by collating evidence, seizing offenders bikes and issuing penalty notices.

Issue

E-Scooters & E-Bikes

Action

Feb 2025 - The community priority survey has identified that the use of E-Scooters & E-Bikes are a priority concern in the community in Windsor. The popularity of e-bikes and e-scooters has surged, leading to a significant increase in accidents. The team at Windsor are completing regular stop checks with individuals riding illegal E-Scooters & E-Bikes to improve the safety of pedestrians and other vehicle users on the road. Legislation is being enforced through education and proactive deterrence's which include warning letters and fixed penalty notices. The use of E-Bikes and E-Scooters on public roads link closely to criminal behaviour, including drug dealing and evading the police. Enforcement of this legislation will reduce the amount of crime committed while riding E-Scooters & E-Bikes.

Issue

Drugs and Drug Dealing

Action

The Neighbourhood team have increased high visibility patrols to Osgood Park, Park Road, Hanover Way, Sawyers Close and Imperial Park/Pirate Park to target and deter offenders. In addition, officers have been conducting Operations to target drugs and drug dealing through identifying key individuals and known locations. PCSOs hold monthly crime prevention stands throughout the neighbourhood to educate and offer residents an opportunity to speak to local officers about their concerns. Dates for these stands are advertised on Your Area.

These patrols deter drug use/drug dealing and officers can link in with local residents to gather intelligence. The team have been educating youths at schools and social clubs on the dangers of drug use and the legal implications of taking drugs.

Issue

Action

The team are working with councillors, partners and RBWM. We have conducted a environmental survey working, looking at ways to get funding to get a safer space that is used by all residents.
