Operated by: Thames Valley Police
https://www.thamesvalley.police.ukEvery neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.
Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.
Neighbourhood Policing teams…- Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
- May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
- Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
- Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
- Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
- Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
- Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
- Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
- Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.
From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.
We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.
Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.
Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.
Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

Current Priorities
Issue
Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
Action
The Thame Neighbourhood Team continue to respond to areas and incidents highlighted by the public. This has included Hotspot Patrolling in the town centre and Elms Park resulting in successful stops and searches for controlled drugs. The team have secured a prosecution for a Racially Aggravated Public Order offence committed in the town as well as prosecuting a male for riding a motorbike across crops causing extensive criminal damage whilst having no license or insurance. The team have also made a recent arrest for a conspiracy to supply controlled drugs as well as securing 4 charges for theft of motor vehicle offences committed by offenders from the Oxford area. The team responded to complaints of anti-social use of e-Scooters with several days of action. We have also responded to reports of anti-social behaviour in Wheatley, increasing patrols and working with the schools to identify those responsible and put measures in place to reduce offending.
Issue
Retail Crime
Action
The team have been successful securing multiple charges for shoplifting offences in this last quarter. We also conducted a week of action targeting retail criminals, repeat offenders and visiting stores to promote best practice in security and reporting. We continue to promote the DISC App, an application that retailers can use to share images of offenders and report offences directly to police. He also charged a prolific offender for a theft from a disabled person. As we look forward we have started looking at resources for future events including the Thame 10k and Thame Street Fair where we hope to meet much of the local community. We continue to support Thame Town Council and the Mayor at joint Have Your Say sessions at the Thame Market.
Issue
Violence Against Women and Girls
Action
The team continue to patrol the Night Time Economy across our area, supporting colleagues from response policing. We continue to work alongside the local Pub watch scheme to help make the Night Time Economy across the area a safer place to enjoy an evening out for all. The team attend a weekly licensing meeting to review all incidents at licensed premises and make recommendations for interventions and to support licensees. One individual has been issued a Community Protection Warning relating to his behaviour around females in Thame. Our Operation Marzipan operation yielded good success in the Night Time Economy with large numbers of licensed premises, taxi operators, takeaways and transport hubs patrolled. A community survey has been conducted and shared with colleagues in the Community Safety Partnership.
