Northumberland is one of the largest counties to police in England and Wales in terms of square miles. Save for the south east corner it is a largely rural county. We have police bases in Berwick, Alnwick, Morpeth, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Prudhoe and Hexham.

Current Priorities

Issue

Anti-social behaviour including motorcycle disorder

Action

We have a dedicated motorcycle team working with our Neighbourhood Teams to tackle this issue with high visibility patrols, engagement with residents and councillors. We are making changes to the physical environment of repeatedly affected locations, whilst intelligence gathering with partners. We are carrying out vehicle uplifts of offenders and working with partners on days of action including housing visits.

Issue

Disorder involving young people

Action

Working with partners to carry out targeted patrols. An early intervention approach is preventing escalating behaviour through early engagement, ASB warning letters and referrals to diversionary activity.
