Current Priorities

Issue

Skipton -
1) Targeting of known local and cross boarder criminals responsible for retail crime within the town centre and at larger retails stores like Morrisons, Tesco and M and S.
2) Operation Sill looking to protect Skipton residents against cross border offenders coming into Skipton to commit sneak in burglary offences.
3) Local known offenders and cross boarder offenders targeting Skipton in relation to drug offences and acquisitive crime. These types of crimes cause local communities fear and unnecessary tensions
4) Night time economy and offences connected to licensed premises.

Action

Working with other partners such as Skipton Town Council, Skipton BID, North Yorks Council and Youth Council we have formed the Skipton Community Safety working group looking at ASB in Skipton Town. We have worked with Skipton BID and local licensees to tackle ASB , Theft and Night Time Disorder with both STAND pub watch and Shop Watch schemes being relaunched with a new Schemelink app that helps all parties share key information about those individuals that cause the most issue in Skipton.

Issue

Crosshills-
1) Local known offenders and cross boarder offenders targeting Crosshills in relation to drug offences and acquisitive crime. These types of crimes cause local communities fear and unnecessary tensions.
2) Anti-Social Behaviour from youths gathering in Sutton and Glusurn Parks and causing minor criminal damage.
3) Cross Boarder offenders targeting vehicles to steal by committing burglary offences to obtain the keys.
4) Theft from unattended vehicles which have been left insecure.

Action

We continue to work closely with our colleagues in West Yorkshire and Lancashire Police to target those that commit burglary and theft in South Craven.
Working with schools to educate youths around ASB and damage - actions and consequences.
Work with community around vehicle security and increased patrols to target offenders coming into South Craven.

Issue

Grassington -
1) Local acquisitive crime in the rural areas.
2) Protection and safety of the public travelling to the beauty spots on the road networks of the main A59/A65 and the B6265.
3) ASB from cross border offenders using the Yorkshire Dales.

Action

We continue to work closely with our local communities and Upper Wharfedale Rural Watch to tackle Rural Crime in Upper Wharfedale - alongside our colleagues from the Rural Task Force we have built up excellent relationships and communication lines to help prevent crime.
Increased patrols at increased times such as summer months and holiday periods.

Issue

Settle -
1) Cross Border offenders targeting rural locations under Operation Quarter to commit burglaries and steal quad bikes.
2) Settle and surrounding villages being targeted for burglaries under Operation Sabre.
3) Acquisitive crime along the A65 which passes through the middle of the Settle beat area.
4) Safety of the public visiting the rural locations, on roads and in the small towns/villages.

Action

Craven NPT increasing patrols in and around areas affected with support from Response colleagues / Roads Policing and partner agencies.
Planned patrols for Op Quarter, Quad thefts, target hardening in rural areas.
Planned patrol in and around Settle under Op Sabre to target dwelling burglaries.

Issue

Ingleton/Bentham -
1) Local known offenders living in Bentham and Ingleton and cross boarder offenders targeting the area in relation to drug offences and acquisitive crime. These types of crimes cause local communities fear and unnecessary tensions.
2) Acquisitive crime along the A65 which passes through the middle of the Ingleton/Bentham beat area.
3) Safety of the public visiting the rural locations, on roads and in the small towns/villages.
4) Speeding vehicles travelling through the smaller villages around Ingleton and Bentham to prevent injury accidents.

Action

Increased patrols and working with the community to gather intelligence on local and cross border drug dealing. Use of police technology to target offenders travelling through our command to commit crime. Community speed watch and enforcement of those committing offences on our roads.
