Current Priorities

Issue

Violence Related Priority - East Wickham Open Space young people being robbed

Action

High visibility patrols in areas of concern.
Stop/Search where appropriate.
Engagement with Welling School

Issue

From the resident survey that was sent out to many residents across East Wickham, there were several ASB hotspots that were mentioned. From this, we have added several areas to our hotspot list which we will tackle in many different ways (marked vehicles, unmarked vehicles, foot patrol, plain clothes patrols). Main concerns seem to be youths hanging around in groups and smoking cannabis. Our patrols are able to deal with offenders and deter the ASB from escalating.

Action

High visibility and covert patrols to both deter and catch offenders.
Use PSPO powers to give appropriate FPNs.
Use Stop/Search powers where appropriate.
Encourage community to report when they see these things going on.

Issue

There is still a strong concern in the community in relation to motor vehicle crime (especially theft of keyless cars). Main priority for this is to inform residents and provide crime prevention advice on how they can keep their vehicle as safe as possible. Criminals are always looking for new ways to steal vehicles so it is important we share crime prevention advice and inform residents to report anything they may see as suspicious.

Action

Speed ops to be a strong focus in particular areas with potential to get some volunteers/residents to come along with us.
Reassurance visits to residents
Council have also started to plan areas to put SIDS (speed indicators) in problem areas
Crime prevention surgeries to be planned to include specific information on motor vehicle crime prevention advice
