Current Priorities

Issue

Violence Related Priority—Robbery and Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG)
The team regularly carry out high visibility patrols of the wards busy social economy areas and transport hubs when on duty, with parks and open spaces also included. During these patrols, the team engage with residents and members of the public, offering personal safety advice.

Action

As part of the VAWG initiative, regular ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions take place, details of which are published online. The team also conduct joint patrols and activities with the Hackney Enforcement Officers to target ASB and criminal offenders. Due to phone thefts being the current widespread issue, phone marking events have begun and will be offered to local residents to tackle phone related thefts.

Issue

There have been consistent thefts of bicycles occur around the ward, mainly within Here East area. The team are therefore conducting more focused patrols around Here East to tackle this.

Action

Utilising up to date and relevant crime data, the team regularly patrol streets and areas that have been identified as hot spots, speaking with local residents, giving crime prevention advice and distributing leaflets. The team also have regular communication with the Hackney and QEOP CCTV control rooms where incidents are being caught and offenders identified. The team are also working closely with the Hackney Enforcement Officers to target hotspots and targeting offenders.

Issue

Burglary - Working towards a reduction of residential burglaries across the ward. With the festive season approaching and it getting dark earlier, more priority will be put towards crime prevention of burglaries.

Action

The team analyse burglary crime data, identify areas at risk, and conduct high visibility patrols. During these patrols, residents are spoken and advice is given regarding home security measures, along with the distribution of crime prevention leaflets. Regular contact sessions and drop in surgeries are also conducted, the details of which are available online.
