Current Priorities
Issue
Retail and business crime
Action
The team have been working closely with retailers to develop the Shop Watch scheme which has seen an increase in members joining and positive relationships have been formed. We have seen one prolific offender sentenced to 18 weeks in prison and several other offenders being arrested and charged.
There has been a 12% increase in detections for reported retail crime and we have identified some key information about a perfume stealing gang. We are also aware of offenders who are travelling across the border to commit offences and are working with our neighbouring forces. This will continue to be a priority for the North Wolds area as we continue to build on the scheme and gather the intelligence.
Issue
Youth anti-social behaviour
Action
We received repeat reports of ASB in an area of Louth. Through talking to the public and increasing patrols, we were able to identify five youths who were issued with Unacceptable Behaviour Warning Letters (UBWL’s) which has see the ASB cease. This is due to the continued work with ELDC.
This was repeated in an area of North Somercotes where a further 5 youths were issued with UBWL’s. The team have attended several safeguarding meetings to protect children. These are all about working with other agencies and sharing information. The team have attended schools to improve confidence in speaking to the police.
In conjunction with ELDC, we have issued two Noxious Odour Warning Letters which relate to the smell of cannabis in a property. Arrests have been made for possession of an offensive weapon, being drunk and disorderly, drink and drug driving, fraud and outraging public decency amongst many others.
