Current Priorities
Issue
Road Safety:
Through our consultation with you we have identified Road Safety (speeding) as being a priority the people of Uppingham want us to address.
What we are going to do: We will provide a frequent high visibility policing presence to the affected areas with marked vehicle patrols and regular monitoring. We will deploy the speed gun device and deal with offenders robustly where appropriate. We will also continue to work with partner agencies, such as the Road Safety Partnership mobile speed camera van, to identify areas of concern and request deployment of that resource. We will then continue to publish the enforcement statistics on the Neighbourhood Link messaging service. www.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk
Action
During November Neighbourhood and Response Officers have been engaged in proactive speed monitoring on arterial road. ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras in the police vehicles has also been utilised leading to several vehicles being seized due to not being able to provide prove of insurance.
Providing a visible presence in the local area, PCSO Wylie has been out on Ayston Road and Leicester Road with the Speed gun monitoring speed.
The results from the mobile speed camera van visits to all locations in Rutland can be viewed at www.speedorsafety.com (Camera locations, Camera Van Enforcement Hours and Offences)

What we are going to do: We will complete high visibility patrols of hotpot areas and deal proactively with offenders with a view to providing a community resolution disposal if it is applicable.
Action
During November the beat team have been out for a partner agency patch walk with the Community Safety Team at Rutland County Council around Uppingham.
We have been into some licensed premises to better understand what issues they are facing and what we can do to help.
We have also been into Uppingham Community College to speak with some students and their Designated Safeguarding Leads about ASB,
Then we have made some visits to some vulnerable members of the community.
The beat team have also attended additional top up training sessions to share with and learn from other areas around Leicestershire and the country to see what they have found works when tackling ASB (Anti-Social Behaviour).

Drugs:
Through our consultation with you we have identified that the selling and use of Drugs as being a priority the people of Uppingham want us to address.
We are going to do develop our intelligence picture around those who commit this type of crime so we that we can effectively target our resources in the right areas, at the right time, with the aim of deterring, disrupting and bringing offenders to justice.
Action
In November officers have using ANPR, Intelligence provided by the public and good old police officer suspicion to stop and search a number of vehicles across Rutland. Subsequently drugs have been found suspects have been dealt with for both drug possession and driving under the influence of drugs. This is another great example of officers acting proactively in response to community concerns. #yousaidwedid
