Current Priorities

Issue

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR-

Over the last few weeks we have had reports of loud parties occurring from a property on Beaufighter Crescent whereby occupants then have gone out into the street and caused criminal damage. There have also been parties and disturbances around Badger Avenue and parking issues on the industrial estate off Leicester Road and around the schools during opening and closing time.

We have made this our priority to patrol these areas as much as we can.
ASB-Through Neighbourhood Link, ASB Call Backs and Social Media accounts, the community have raised the issue of Anti-Social Behaviour on the Melton Town North Beat.

Action

The Beat Team have made an arrest of a suspect for causing damage to property on Beaufighter Crescent and they have been released from custody with bail conditions. The investigation remains open and the beat team are liaising with the council and housing authority regarding the anti-social behaviour from one of the occupants. The occupant has already been issued with a warning and we will be monitoring the situation over the coming weeks.

The beat team have completed a patch walk with the Safer Communities Team from Melton Borough Council and issued a community protection warning to two of the occupants.

Reports of inconsiderate parking caused by a business on Pate Road were received, so in response the beat team along with the Safer Communities Team from Melton Borough Council, have attended the premises and issued the business owner responsible with a community protection notice.

We continue to patrol the schools on the beat around opening and closing time offering reassurance and advising any drivers about inconsiderate parking.

We fully appreciate the negative impact resulting from ASB and how it can affect people mentally and physically, so please do not hesitate to report ASB to Police online via https://www.leics.police.uk/ , or by calling the Police on 101, (always 999 in an emergency).

Issue

SPEEDING-Through Neighbourhood Link, reports made direct to officers and the force, the community have raised the issues of road safety and speeding vehicles on the Melton Town South Beat.

Action

We are doing are best to put our speed calming measures where we can, by either using Speed cameras or just our presence! By conducing speed checks and speed calming measures regularly in the area it will decrease the speed of most if not all of the vehicles.

We are aware of HGVs using restricted areas throughout the beat and we have sent out multiple letters to the companies issuing them with warnings.

We have also sent out a communication on our Neighbourhood Link Portal asking the Melton Town South Residents where the speed concern areas are. We look forward to completing further speed monitoring and speed calming measures in the areas they have advised us.

Please feel free to sign up to our Neighbourhood Link portal and complete surveys and obtain updates from your local Melton Town South Beat Team.

Issue

DRUG DEALING-Through Neighbourhood Link, Social Media accounts, and direct community feedback and information, the community have raised the issue of Drug Dealing on the Melton Town South Beat.

Action

We continue to conduct high visible foot patrols around the areas that we suspect drug dealing is occurring.

A community protection warning was issued to an occupant on Badger Avenue in relation to cannabis use. This was issued in company with the Safer Communities Team from Melton Borough Council.

2 males were found in a property recently on the beat whereby a substantial amount of Class A and B drugs were located and seized. The males were arrested in the property, taken to custody and have been issued with bail conditions whilst the investigation continues.
