Current Priorities
Issue
The community have raised the issue of Anti-Social Behaviour on the Melton Town Beat.
Action
ASB continues to become an issue on the town beat, to which known ASB offenders have been arrested for offences and some have been voluntary interviewed.
ASB orders have been looked into and the council ASB team have looked into ASB orders to be issued to the main offenders of ASB around the town. We have also had a issue with youths climbing on top of buildings which we have discussed with local shop keepers to prevent this happening and making this safer for the community. We as the town beat do not tolerate any ASB and offenders will be dealt with accordingly.
Issue
Through engagements with the community shoplifting and burglary have been highlighted as a priority.
Action
Thefts have been highlighted from the beat team to be a priority due to the number of retail stores on the area.
Due to the Christmas period coming up Melton has had a spate of thefts from businesses, offenders have been identified to which they have been arrested and dealt with accordingly, recently a known offender has been charged for at least 4 theft offences and has been sent to court for this. CCTV doorbells are still being given out and provided to shops and businesses that are being affected. Officers from the NR31 beat team have been stop searching a known offender of burglary within the town, completing this proactive work prevents the offences from happening.
We will not tolerate offending targeted at our local stores. We remind all stores and business to check your doors and windows are locked before leaving. As well as keeping your CCTV and alarms up to date. Officers on night shifts carry out proactive patrols within the town centre to prevent any burglaries within the town centre.
Please continue to report any shop lifters to us or any suspicious behaviour.
