Current Priorities

Issue

RURAL THEFTS Through feedback from beat surgeries and community engagements the community have raised the issue of Farming Equipment Thefts on the Melton Rural South Beat.

Action

Rural thefts and burglaries remain the biggest threat to the Rural South beat.
Following some great results and arrests from our neighbouring forces and Leics Police Rural Policing Team there has been a reduction in burglaries and thefts in our beat area.
The rural crime team are currently working late shifts to deter and catch offenders.
PC 3009 and PCSO 6575 will continue to patrol at night as there has been a small rise in reported thefts from rural businesses. There has also been a rise nationally in incidents of hare coursing. Contact police should you see this happening or see anything suspicious.

Issue

ROAD SAFETY Through Neighbourhood Link, and Social media accounts the community have raised the issue of Road Safety issues on the NR30 beat area. Specifically speeding vehicles and collisions.
The B6047 route from Melton out towards Market Harborough is identified as a hot spot for poor driving and speeding

Action

The beat team continue to make regular high visibility patrols in marked police vehicles along routes identified as at risk; B6047 south of Melton, The Ab Kettleby/Nether Broughton A606 and the area of the A6006 and Six Hills Lane.
PC Tranter has conducted rural patrols across the beat targeting suspicious vehicles and activity.
PCSO French has conducted speed monitoring at various locations across the beat.

Issue

DRUGS: Through feedback from beat surgeries and community engagements the community have raised the issue of drug taking on the Melton Rural South Beat.

Action

PC Tranter and PCSO French continue to make high visibility patrols both on foot and in marked vehicles in the areas of the beat identified as at risk of being used to take drugs. Those rural locations continue to see a definite reduction in people found using drugs.
