Current Priorities
Issue
You said there was an issue with Anti Social Behaviour including drug misuse and criminal damage in and around the dugouts on hood park in Ashby.
Action
We want to reduce instances of ASB involving drug related activity and criminal damage in this area
and support local residents who have voiced their concerns over incidents of such activity.
We will work with partner agencies to see what environmental factors could help reduce this issue. CCTV, lighting, signage options will be explored.
We will target our patrols in this area and take action against anyone found to be in possession of drugs or causing damage.
We will also look to divert people from socialising in this area and redirect them to alternative more appropriate activities.
So far we have been spending a lot of time patrolling the area and on most occasions there have been no issues to report.
We have had one report of youths smashing a glass bottle and smoking cannabis in the dugout. Our local neighbourhood team have identified the two people responsible and have dealt with them for these offences.
We have recently been working with North West Leicestershire District council to have some offensive and unsightly graffiti removed from Hood Park.
We will keep you updated on this priority.
Issue
Road safety initiative Ravenstone Village.
Action
You asked us to focus on road safety in Ravenstone Village.
We will promote Road Safety throughout the village by conducting speeding operations at peak times when issue are most prevalent.
We will take positive and proportionate action against those committing Road Traffic Offences.
We will request the assistance of our speed camera van.
We will put up Share the Road signage in key locations.
If you have a particular road in the village you want us to check please let us know.
So far our Neighbourhood beat team have conducted roadside speed checks at various times and days on Ashby Road, Ravenstone.
They also conducted a Fatal 4 traffic operation where they targeted anyone committing offences most closely linked to road traffic fatalities. These include speed, no seat belt, using mobile phones and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
We will keep you updated on how this priority progresses.
Issue
Crime prevention patrols targeted at theft of and from motor vehicles in residential areas.
Action
Our crime pattern data shows that there has been a recent increase in thefts from vehicles and theft of vehicles from residential housing estates across the beat.
With the darker nights coming we will priorities crime prevention and patrols in these areas to try and help reduce the risk of you being victim of this type of crime.
We will offer you crime prevention advise regarding vehicle crime. We would also be happy to visit you at home and conduct a bespoke crime prevention assessment if you would like one.
We are sending out specific related crime alerts - If you would like these they will be published on our Facebook page and on Neighbourhood link. If you are not signed up to either of these then please see our force website for details.
So far we have conducted house to house enquiries and provided crime prevention advice in the surrounding areas of any of the related offences. While doing this we have been signing new members up to Neighbourhood Link so we can send out further crime prevention advice.
We also conducted a patchwalk on Jersey Drive, Ashby with some of our partner agencies to explore areas where we can work together to help reduce crime.
