Current Priorities

Issue

The beat team aim to tackle different elements of ASB in Anstey, Thurcaston, Cropston and Newtown Linford. Highlighted areas were both allotments in Anstey
Papermill Close and neighbouring recreational ground in Anstey
Mitchell’s Field in Anstey
Bradgate Park

Action

There have been weekly visits to Anti-Social Behaviour hot spots across Anstey, Thurcaston, Cropston and Newtown Linford, and ongoing updates shared directly with Charnwood Borough Council. This has enabled us to provide a joint effort in addressing Anti-Social Behaviour across the area and keep on top of ongoing reports of ASB. The beat team have also been applying the Incremental Approach where suitable, issuing words of advice and warning letters to those causing issue to the community. There have also been reports of youths driving up Fairhaven Road in Anstey and parking on the street and littering, including alcohol bottles and rubbish being left for the community to clean up, therefore extra patrols have been conducted as a response and we are pleased to say that there have been no issues of late. Patrols continue around Papermill Close in Anstey due to ASB and drug related issues, all partners will continue working together to address and eliminate these problems, ensuring the well-being of the local community. We have also had reports of youths smoking cannabis on the corner of Edward Street which has been a patrol hotspot for the Police since the report.

Issue

We will be looking at Road safety issues in Anstey and villages, including speeding, parking issues (especially around school times), obstructions in Anstey (in particular parking on Cropston Road), vehicles not complying with traffic signals in the Nook, and use of electric scooters in public places.

Action

Officers have conducted a speed compliance check, mainly featuring using the mobile speed gun in areas where residents have highlighted vehicles regularly exceeding the speed limit. Checks were conducted this month on Cropston Road in Anstey to monitor the average speeds of vehicles at peak travel times. On this occasion we conducted a speed operation and drivers showed good compliance on the roads with no traffic offence reports issued. We will continue to monitor these locations and others that are raised by the public. The beat team will share details with the Road safety team to seek support from the local council to consider the installation of traffic calming measures on these roads. Patrols around schools so far have highlighted no parking issues. They will continue.

Issue

The beat team will patrol in an effort to prevent vehicle crime. Where such offences do take place, we will review with a view to helping victims, providing crime prevention advice and target hardening.

Action

The beat team have been working hard with patrols around the village over the past month and are very pleased to say that vehicle crime has come down considerably over the past month. As a beat team we will continue to patrol as much as possible, with 24/7 support from our response and force wide (firearms, dogs, traffic, etc) colleagues.
