Local beat officers have set up many initiatives directed at crime prevention and detection. The officers are keen to develop links within the community and so will be holding regular police surgeries to identify and tackle specific problems that affect the beat.

Current Priorities
Issue
General Anti Social Behaviour
Action
Speeding at car meets across the force area has prompted complaints and some driver behaviour is proving extremely dangerous putting lives at risk. Officers have also sent warning letters to offending motorists and seized vehicles. We would also ask members of the public to keep reporting offences so we can continue to take action.
Issue
Drug dealing on the beat is still a priority. We are always looking for opportunities to gather sufficient intelligence to enforce by way of drugs warrants. Any opportunity to disrupt drug dealing will be grasped by the team. We continue to welcome any information concerning local drug dealing activities in your area.
Action
Local Officers and our Tactical Support Team attended an address on Kirkby Road, Barwell with the assistance of our Modern Slavery Team following intelligence that a property was being used as a cannabis factory. Upon entry a male fled the address but was detained by Officers. The factory and contents were removed and the property has now been secured. We are still very early on in the investigation so we cant comment further on this but we are pleased to have closed this down.
Issue
Concerns relating Road Safety whether it be parking, speeding or loud car causing nuisance or motorbikes being ridden in an anti-sociable manner.
Action
PC Chris has been out patrolling the beat and following up on reports from the public in relation to dangerous parking near to schools across the beat. Whilst out he has located a car parked right on the junction of Blackburn Road and High Street. Not only was it parked in a dangerous position near to Barwell C of E Junior School but it was being used with no road tax and no MOT. This car has now been seized, the owner will need to tax it before collecting it as well as having it recovered straight to an MOT test centre to have a valid test put on it before being driven again.
