Current Priorities
Issue
Road Safety - results from "my views" survey conducted by the local team, via Neighbourhood Link, indicate that this is a priority concern on the area.
Action
The team conduct proactive traffic operations working alongside partner agencies in the interest of road safety.
We have been working in conjunction with Leicester City Council and our Traffic Management Team to identify areas of concern and to consider a longer-term solution through traffic calming measures and more appropriate road signage.
Beat officers have been and will continue to provide patrols at local schools at key times to improve the safety of pupils, parents and road users.
During the winter months, the beat will be working with the wider East Leicester Team to tackle road safety concerns as part of OP Syphon addressing issues including speeding, dangerous parking, seatbelt usage and more.
During the months of October, November, and December the team have continued to address parking issues in the local area, address road safety, and are working with partner agencies to achieve long term resolutions.
We have recently had some good results at the local school whereby we have taken part in a joint agency approach with the council to the parking issues raised to us.
Please contact the team if you have any concerns.
Issue
Anti-Social Behaviour- Residents have highlighted ASB around open and green spaces.
Action
Officers are performing plain clothed and high visibility patrols in open spaces to identify perpetrators of ASB and
are taking appropriate action.
The team continue to work with the Councils Wardens and Leicester City Council to identify effective working strategies to address ASB with a focus on deterrence and prevention.
We will continue to liaise with local communities and hold beat surgeries to identify issues.
A large area of concern around ASB related to the summer months with was address through OP Wasp, whilst this operation has now ceased it will continue to be address as part of OP Grove.
The team are effectively using way markers on area that have been identified as areas of concerns to address ASB in a targeted way.
Issue
Burglaries- Results from "my views" survey conducted by the local team, via Neighbourhood Link, indicate that this is a priority concern.
Action
Officers are performing high visibility patrols in hotspot areas to offer community reassurance, safety advice, and a deterrent through increased police presence.
With the change in season and the days getting darker soon we will be conducting Safer Night patrols to tackle burglaries and vehicle crimes.
This will include high visibility patrols and officers utilising their powers where appropriate to target and disrupt persons that are intending to commit crime.
This will be supported through the use of intelligence which we continue to develop with support from other officers and the public.
When attending incidents of burglary, Leicestershire Police will deliver a professional, effective, and efficient service that will in turn improve standards of investigation and outcomes.
The local beat team will continue to provide beat surgeries across the Rushey Mead Area. Here you can meet the team and speak to us about any concerns you may have. We will also provide you with target-hardening advice around keeping yourselves and your homes safe.
Your beat team will be out and about to provide further target hardening advice around burglaries during darker nights and Diwali.
OP Darker Nights continues to return positive results with suspects being identified and dealt with by our colleagues in CID due to the diligent enquiries of our local team.
