Current Priorities
Issue
You said tackle reports of illegal drug use. Residents had reported suspected drug use – in particular, reports of the smell of cannabis impacting neighbouring properties.
Action
Police regularly conduct drug-related enforcement action, such as arrests, use of stop and search powers and warrants at addresses suspected of being involved in the supply of illegal drugs. Officers also work with partner agencies to close down addresses that are suspected of being involved in drug crime or associated anti-social behaviour. This means that the property cannot be used or inhabited for a set period, and it is a criminal offence for people to do so.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicions they have. It may appear that police do not act immediately on reports received, however all reports are reviewed and are fed into intelligence work done to tackle the drug trade in the local area. This ultimately results in significant investigative work to charge and convict those suspected of drug-related crime.
Issue
Tackle vehicle nuisance in Lytton Way.
Action
The Neighbourhood Policing Team understand the impact of nuisance vehicle use and aim to respond to all reports recieved. Residents are urged to continue reporting issues so they can be dealt with as they arise.
Issue
Tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the area between The Willows and Broadwater Crescent. Incidents reported to police included damage to property from stones and eggs being thrown at houses and general ASB around the shopping precinct of 'Marymead Shops'.
Action
The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to respond to reports of criminal damage. Neighbourhood surgeries are held in the area to enable local residents to raise concerns and issues directly with officers and our PCSOs visit local schools to help educate children around the impact of ASB on their community.
