Current Priorities

Issue

It was agreed at the last priority setting forum to tackle drug related anti-social behaviour in and around The Oval and Martins Wood. We have received an increase in reports of substance misuse and drug dealing.

Action

We have carried out additional high visibility foot patrols under Operation Hotspot in the Old Town High Street and Oval shopping precincts, as well as operations in The St Nicholas and Martins Woods area, to target drug dealing and associated ASB. This has resulted in several arrests including seizure of weapons and drugs and the seizure of e-scooters, resulting in prosecutions for no insurance.
We are targeting mopeds used in pedestrian areas and parkland, but more detailed information is needed to identify vehicles and riders.

Issue

It was agreed at the last priority setting meeting that tackling vehicle-related nuisance behaviour would remain a priority for the Stevenage North Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Action

Work has continued to tackle nuisance driving on Martins Way, Gunnelswood Road, Wedgewood Way, Wisden Road, Grace Way, Scarborough Avenue, Sish Lane, Canterbury Way and Clovelly Way. This work now also includes the Old Town High Street area, particularly in the evenings and weekends.
Regular speed enforcement patrols have been conducted in these areas and numerous traffic offence reports have been issued and drivers reported for speeding. This activity is ongoing.
