Jon Stratford

Gloucestershire Constabulary

Jon joined Gloucestershire Constabulary as Assistant Chief Constable for Tri-force Specialist Operations and Major Crime investigation and on 1 May 2017 he was appointed to the role of temporary Deputy Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary for twelve months.

Prior to this he served for two years as an ACC with South Wales Police leading their Specialist Operations, Specialist Crime, Professional Standards, Criminal Justice and Communications departments.

A former Army Officer and graduate of Leicester Polytechnic, Jon began his policing career in South Bristol with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary in 1992. He went on to serve in a variety of operational roles in Bath, Bristol and rural Somerset before becoming the Policing Commander for Bristol.

Jon is a qualified firearms and public order commander with extensive operational experience that includes commanding the police response to many Glastonbury Festivals, St Paul’s Carnival’s and numerous other major events as well as critical incidents such as the murder of Joanna Yates in 2010, the two separate Bristol disorders in 2011 and other large scale protest.

Nationally, Jon is the NPCC chief officer lead for Integrated Offender Management.

Jon is a family man with interests that include surfing, cycling and anything else that gets him outdoors with his three sons. He is also the chair of governors of his local primary school.
