Issue
Street Drinkers/Begging
Tiverton has recently been subject of repeated calls from members of the public and business owners, that there are regular groups of Street Drinkers and Beggars congregating in the Town. The street drinkers have also been involved in shoplifting. This is having an impact on the perception of safety and causing shoppers and business owners to feel intimidated.

Update: 04 December 2024 - TIVERTON NPT RESPONSE
Tiverton Neighbourhood Police have kept in regular contact with our partners & local businesses, who have previously reported street drinkers affecting their business. We have responded to ASB reports of street drinkers, causing a nuisance, promptly and several arrests have been made.. As a result, the reports have decreased & Street drinking has declined.
Tiverton Neighbourhood Police have also responded promptly to reports involving begging, in the town. Individuals have been engaged with via language line, Modern Day Slavery and exploitation have been negated and begging notices have been removed. Several individuals were claiming homelessness, so were signposted to Churches Housing Action Team and the Homeless Team at Mid Devon District Council.
Issue
County Lines/Vulnerable persons
There are several Vulnerable persons in Tiverton, who are at risk of being cuckooed and having their homes and lives taken over and infiltrated by Drug Dealers. As we have a priority to protect the most vulnerable members of the community, we are regularly monitoring all community intelligence and conducting regular safeguarding visits to our most Vulnerable persons. Some of these visits result in a multi agency approach with our partner agencies ie Housing, education and health.

Update: 04 December 2024 - TIVERTON NPT RESPONSE
Tiverton Neighbourhood Police have been conducting regular Targeted patrols around the areas of Tiverton, where there are known Vulnerable persons, who are at risk of being cuckooed or exploited. Unannounced visits have been completed and safety and security checks on properties have been completed, including key safe changes.
We are working closely with our partner agencies, including Housing and Social Services to obtain warden controlled, social housing, with consent from our most Vulnerable people.
Sadly, there is little availability, so we are continue to monitor and review as spaces become available.
Issue
Anti-Social Behaviour
Tiverton has several disused and abandoned buildings, which have recently become playgrounds to some of our local Youths. The sites are being subject to damage and possibly the misuse of alcohol and/or drugs.
Some of these Youths have also been reported to be shoplifting and causing Anti-social Behaviour, in the Towns supermarkets, as well as the smaller shops.
