Prolific Shoplifting
Shoplifting is an ever increasing occurrence which results in local businesses losing valuable revenue.
This has increased both locally and nationally with the cost of living crisis.
Action
Update: 06 January 2025 - December
In December we have continued a focus around Shoplifting. The DISC system which has just been introduced and allows business owners to share information and report crime is really going well and having an impact. We noticed a reduction in shoplifting reports in December. The Neighbourhood Support Team also assisted us and through their deployment arrested a female for breaching their criminal behaviour order, prevented a high value trolley dash at a supermarket and arrested a male wanted on warrant. They also detained and dealt with a shoplifter caught in the act. We will continue to liaise and work with local businesses and deal robustly with offenders.
Update: 21 November 2024 - Update
We continue the focus on prolific shoplifters. Camborne bid have now invested in a DISC system which means that the stores can share information and access live galleries as well as report shoplifting through the system.
Shoplifting figures have dropped from September to October but this may be down to reporting and we actively encourage shops to report all occurrences so we can gain an accurate picture, target resources and address the prolific offenders as quickly as possible.

Dangerous Drugs Networks
A significant amount of crime and ASB is linked to drugs. We are committed to tackling and disrupting drug related ASB, County Lines, Organised Crime Groups and Criminal Exploitation.
Action
Update: 06 January 2025 - December Update
In December the Policing teams have been working hard in to tackle dangerous drugs networks in the area. A particular focus has been on Drug driving over the Christmas period. On 6th December the No Excuses Roads Policing Team assisted in the Camborne and Redruth area and as a result of their deployment 4 roadside drugs tests and 5 roadside breath tests were administered. One test was positive for drugs. 2 vehicles were also seized due to having no insurance. We will continue this focus into the New Year disrupting those dealing and taking drugs and putting other members of the public at risk by driving.
Update: 06 January 2025 - November Update
In October the Camborne Neighbourhood team along with the professional development unit and FSG carried out a drugs warrant where a significant amount of drugs were seized with an estimated street value of £15,000. The suspect was remanded in custody by the courts. The neighbourhood team have also been working with our partner agencies to safeguard vulnerable persons and those at risk of cuckooing. This has resulted in some persons being rehomed into supported accommodation where they can be protected and safeguarded.

Action
Update: 06 January 2025 - December
Throughout December we have been focusing patrols particularly in Camborne Town Centre where we have seen high levels of Anti-Social behaviour. This has been in conjunction with the work the street Marshalls have been doing and we regularly share information.
On 21st December our force support group assisted and a male was arrested and charged with criminal damage and assault by beating after a shop worker was attacked following an incident in a store. To demonstrate the work of the street Marshalls, they assisted officers on the scene and helped identify the offender and passed invaluable information. This demonstrates the work and additional assistance that their presence in the town brings.
ASB in all our area is a priority and please continue to report incidents as it allows us to target our resources where needed.
Update: 21 November 2024 - Update
Anti-Social behaviour remains a priority and focus with it hugely impacted on peoples lives and communities. 18th-22nd November is ASB week and the local neighbourhood team will be out and about. We will also be joining a pop-up at Heartlands on Saturday at 0900 - weather permitting!
This month (November) after lots of work by Kay our ASB officer and the Neighbourhood team, Sonia Pellow was issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order by the Courts. The conditions on this prevent her from being in possession of an open container or consuming alcohol in a specific area in Camborne, being intoxicated in any public place or being in a group of more than two and acting in a manner is or is likely to cause any person to fear for their safety. This is a really good tool along with supportive measures in place to deal with persistent offenders and curb their behaviour that impacts on the Community. We are working on other CBO's currently and will keep you updated.
