All of these villages are located within the Amber Valley Borough Council area and are situated between the towns of Alfreton and Ripley. The area also has excellent road links with the A38 and the M1 motorway.
Current Priorities
Issue
1. Drug dealing in the Somercotes area.
2. Anti-Social Behaviour in the Somercotes and Riddings area.
3. Car meets at the Range, Nottingham Road, Somercotes.
Action
1. High visibility patrols within the locations to disrupt the drug activity. Build intelligence and take positive action with consideration for plain clothes officers to be deployed in the area to identify drug dealers, carry out stop/searches where grounds are met and execute warrants where appropriate. Offer support and safeguarding for any victims identified.
2. High visibility patrols within the location. Work alongside our Youth Engagement Team to engage with the young people, signpost them to positive activities taking place locally and deliver inputs within schools to educate young people of the affects anti-social behaviour has on victims. Issue anti-social behaviour letters to young people found to be engaging in anti-social behaviour and consider other suitable disposals, such as Immediate Justice or acceptable behavioural contracts.
3. High visibility patrols to be completed in the location, engage, and educate car owners of their responsibilities. Robustly deal with any vehicle owners/drivers found to be committing offences, using are PSPO powers and other policing powers available to us. Use our social media platforms to inform the community of actions taken by the police.
