Duffield is a large village set in the Derwent valley about four and a half miles north of Derby. There are a variety of shops in the village centre, several inns and a sports club. The village also has both a primary and a secondary school. It has its own railway station with regular services to Derby.
Current Priorities
Issue
1. Anti-Social Behaviour around Belper.
2. Parking issues outside Holbrook Primary School.
3. Speeding vehicles through Duffield.
Action
1. High visibility patrols across Belper, at peak times in an evening and weekends. Work alongside our youth engagement team to engage with the young people, signposting them to positive activities within the local area. Deliver inputs within schools to educate young people of the effects anti-social behaviour has on victims and the community. Issue anti-social behaviour letters to young people found engaging in anti-social behaviour, and consideration to be given for other suitable disposals, such as Immediate Justice and Acceptable Behavioural Contracts. Work alongside our partners at Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership, utilising our Public Space Protection Order powers.
2. High visibility patrols in the area around the required times, work alongside our partner agencies in the council to advise, educate and take suitable enforcement action there necessary.
3. Regular speed checks to be carried out in this location by the Safer Neighbourhood Team, working alongside our community speed watch groups to help and support them. Educate drivers and take enforcement action against drivers where appropriate.
