Current Priorities
Issue
E scooters are causing annoyance for the local community. Parking Concerns have been raised recently about the parking in and around all our local schools and in certain residential areas. Theft remains a high priority especially due to the effects it has on its victims and its community.
Action
It’s not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters, which means it's illegal to use them on the road or in public spaces. If you're using a private e-scooter you risk the vehicle being seized under S.165a of the Road Traffic Act 1988 for no insurance, we will be patrolling the area and using the powers given to us to tackle this issue We as a team are looking at educating motorists and will be patrolling in the areas at the relevant times. We would encourage anyone who is wanting to report illegal parking to the councils Civil Parking Enforcement Team who are responsible for most parking offences like double yellow lines. You can do this by calling Call Derbyshire on 01629533190. We would ask the community to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious activity at the time the incident occurs on either 999 or 101.Extra patrols have been conducted and property and bike marking has taken place.
