It belongs to the Derbyshire Dales Local Policing Unit. Matlock, dominated by the sight of Riber Castle, is located 20 miles north of Derby and has the River Derwent flowing through its centre. The neighbourhood extends to cover the nearby villages of Tansley and Starkholmes. In the 1800s, Matlock developed as a popular tourist area with guest houses and hotels emerging.
