Current Priorities
Issue
Reports from local residents of drug activity and drug dealing in the town.
Action
Actively targeting our known offenders, vehicles and addresses within Penrith town. This is done by conducting high vis foot patrol, plain clothes, gathering information via Streetsafes and submitting intelligence. Our main is always to get warrants granted from the courts and Eden NPT will execute these. We always ensure we are listening to the public and residents and will follow up any issues. If appropriate we are carrying out stop searches on nominals and seizing vehicles.
We continue to gather intelligence from the local community in regards to drug activity within the town.
We are continuing to complete street safe surveys in areas which have been affected.
Several arrests have been made in relation to drug offences with investigations on going.
Issue
ASB & serious violence
Action
Operation Enhance aims to target this kind of activity and sees extra patrols in areas identified as hotspots for anti-social behaviour and/or serious violence.
We continue to use hotspot policing methods to target the areas identified as concern.
We have opened a drop in centre within the Devonshire Arcade, which regularly hosts surgeries ran by PCSOs to offer advice and address concerns from the local community
Issue
Op Regulate - Night time economy
Action
We are re-launching Operation Regulate - Eden's approach policing the night time economy. This focuses on keeping people safe, especially the most vulnerable when out in our local towns. We aim to help reduce the issues of alcohol related violent disorder, sexual offences & ASB. With a specific and enhanced focus on violence against woman & girls.
Uniformed and plain clothed officers will be out over the festive period to help keep people safe.
