Let's Talk Meeting - EAST
Following the most recent Community Priority Meeting at Ramridge Primary School on 03/10/2024, the local community have identified DRUGS/ASB, OFF ROAD BIKES/E- Scooters as well as High Visibility Patrols as the priorities for the next 3 months.
Action
PC Pascoe has set up Operation Banked which is proactive work targeting drug supply in South & East, mainly the Stopsley and Wigmore wards. This was conducted on 3rd September 2024, whereby letter drops and high visibility patrols were completed in hotspot areas. A large amount of intelligence was submitted in relation to drug possession and supply.
Since November 2024, officers have completed five weapon sweeps, also known as Operation Sceptre. This involved detailed searches of areas identified by officer knowledge and intelligence. As a result of these, no weapons were recovered. Another weapon sweep is arranged for February 2025.
On 8th January 2025, the South & East team completed Operation Multigrain which is a day of action targeting off road bikes and e-scooters. As a result of this, multiple intelligence reports were submitted, allowing us to focus our patrols on targeted hotspot areas. Another operation is planned for the near future.
On 14th January 2025, officers conducted a speed watch morning on various roads across South & East. This resulted in three vehicles being dealt with due to their manner of driving.
On 25th January 2025, officers attended addresses in the boroughs of Metropolitan and Essex Police to make arrests relating to drug offences in the Bedfordshire area. This resulted in one person being taken to Luton Crown Court. Another Operation Banked is planned to take place in February 2025.
Various engagements have been completed within the community, such as Cuppa with a Copper, Street a Week and Christmas Fetes.
