Operated by: Avon and Somerset Constabulary
Neighbourhood Policing Team for Bishopston.
Current Priorities
Issue
Begging and the associated anti-social behaviour continues to be an issue on Gloucester Road outside of the larger shops.
Action
The team engage with people begging on a daily basis.
We work in partnership with our Streetwise Team in order to combat this and signpost the individuals towards organisations that can offer them help.
2 persistent beggars now have Community Protection Notices granted against them which gives further police powers to deal with them.
Issue
Prohibited items, mainly drugs and mobile phone, are being thrown over the walls of HMP Bristol for use by the residents of the prison
Action
Problem solving meetings are ongoing between the police and the prison.
Patrols have been increased at the times of day when the offences are being committed. A male was arrested and charged in September.
The Neighbourhood team are engaging with the local residents to encourage suspicious activity to be called in to the police
Issue
Sheds and garages are being broken into by burglars with bikes being the target.
Action
Targeted patrols and investigations being carried out by Operation Remedy officers
